Three stylish Italians
The Barolo is lovely. Fifth generation Barolo, Giacomo Fenocchio knows how to make his Nebbiolo grape sing. Drawing from his grand cru vineyards his wine has lifted aromas of cherres, strawberries, roses and an Autumnal character. The Cappezzana is Cabernet Sauvignon dominant on the nose, a Bordeaux style Tuscan with black cherries, sage, chocolate, cassis and new leather which give way to opulent rich fruit in the mouth. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Syrah, 20% Merlot. This the the great Ornellaia’s “3rd wine”, a super-tuscan Sangiovese-Bordeaux blend, upfront, broad and satisfying, with notes of cocoa, cassis, blueberry and fig compote. More-ishly drinkable.
