Italian Fine Wine Triple

Pio Cesare Chardonnay Piodilei, Langhe – A single vineyard, barrel-fermented chardonnay from the Pio Cesare family-owned vineyards in Barbaresco and Barolo regions of Piedmonte. Sweet stone fruit on the nose and still very fresh with an elegant touch of oak. Spicy, creamy and intense, with a soft, long aftertaste.

Rosso di Montalcino, Biondi-Santi – This 150-hectare property, which abuts Costanti’s estate, has 26 hectares of vineyard split over three sites. The oldest of these plots is Il Greppo at 500 metres above sea level where the winery and house are situated. Intense bouquet of violets and wisteria flower, fresh cherries and delicate hints of citron which are intertwined with spicy notes of pink and white pepper corns and a subtle, sweet scent of vanilla pod. Elegant and distinguished, it is smooth and medium bodied with a fruity core.

Le Serre Nuove Dell Ornellaia, Bolgheri – The estate’s 76 hectares contains dozens of different parcels with individual characteristics. The soil can be volcanic, limestone, alluvial sand or marine clay. There is a separate enclave to the north of Bolgheri with pebbly clay and sandstone, younger vines and more exposure to sea breezes. Notes of wild berry fruit and sweet violets, with underlying hints of pungent spice and roast espresso bean. The palate is full-volume with a good weight, yet at the same time displaying elegance and pedigree, with a velvet-smooth, glossy texture and up-front fruit.
